Another Reason for Older Folks to Work Out

We've previously found articles that discuss the benefits of exercise for all types of people, from pregnant women to the elderly. Now it's been found that exercise helps reduce the risk of falling for elderly patients as well. In an article from Kjrh.com entitled, "Exercise reduces fall risk for elderly", researchers at University Hospitals in Geneva, Switzerland studied nearly 150 elderly adults through various exercise regimens. The results are both surprising and unsurprising.

While exercise improved the health and gait of participants, as one might expect, it also improved their balance as well. This led to over a fifty-percent reduction in fall risk by the participants. Pretty impressive when you consider than one-third of people over sixty-five experience a fall annually. This is just one more way exercise can help improve our lives.
