More and more personal trainers are seeking a degree in exercise science or other related field. Those that really want to set themselves apart will have a bachelor's or master's degree in their field. This type of background provides the trainer with a deep knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology (movement), and technical skill.
What does this mean to you the client? It means safer lifting technique, more comfortable movement patterns and a more effective workout. I must point out, however, the trainer must be able to take this knowledge and apply it to the client in order to see positive changes. This is where the next point becomes important.
