How Much Time Do You Have?

PREVIOUS NEXT

I want you to take a few minutes and try the following exercise. It's simple; all you have to do is answer three questions. It will shed some light on the amount of time you have available during the course of a week.

Question A-How many hours are there in one week?

Question B-How many hours do you work each day, on average? Now multiply this by 5.

Question C-How many hours do you sleep each night, on average? Multiply this by 7.

Once you've answered these questions, I'm going to ask you to do a little more math. Don't get worried if math wasn't your thing in school. I want you to plug your answers into the following formula.

Question A - (Question B + Question C)

Let me help you out. I will use myself as an example and insert my answers into the formula. My answers are as follows.

Question A = 168 hours (if you haven't guessed, this will be the same for everyone!)

Question B = 45 hours

Question C = 56 hours

168 - (45 + 56) = 67

The number "67" represents the amount of free hours I have each week to go about my daily activities outside of work and sleep. That's over 9 hours a day. Your number may be higher or lower. If you think about it, that's a lot of free time you could put toward something meaningful in your life...like exercise.
